The weather has warmed up, and the second semester is coming to a close meaning spring break has come and gone! This year, spring break took place from March 31st to April 4th and was a great time to take a rest from school before finals and the end of the year. From catching up on some rest, to travelling, everyone seemed to have different plans for how they would spend their time. Let’s see what students and staff did on their much needed break!
Mackenzie Lloyd, a junior at San Mateo High School, spent her break in Mexico! She shares, “I went to Cabo with my family this Spring Break. It was exciting because I’ve been to other parts of Mexico before, but never Cabo!” Mackenzie most enjoyed the hot weather, tanning, and the beach. Recently, here in San Mateo the weather has been pretty cold and gloomy, so a change of scenery was much needed. Mackenzie couldn’t wait for spring break to roll around so she could enjoy some sunshine!
Mr. Hsu, a history teacher at San Mateo High, stayed in and relaxed this spring break. Mr. Hsu expresses, “I saw as few people as I could, and hermitted at home. I enjoy teaching and interacting with students, but it can be a bit tiring and so usually when I get the opportunity to relax I like to be in my own thoughts.” It’s important to recharge and step away from the demands of school so we can all come back refreshed.
Ella Heisler, a junior at SMHS, spent her spring break in Maryland visiting a friend. “This spring break, I went up to Maryland to see my friend Annabelle,” she explains. “She moved after our sophomore year, and I’ve only seen her a few times since then. She has always come here, so I was really excited to go there and meet some of her friends,” Ella shares. Ella spent the whole week there and enjoyed her much needed break!
In general, spring break is a chance for everyone to unwind in their own way. It provides an opportunity to step away from the daily grind, even if just for a few days, and allows students and faculty to rejuvenate.
