Framing The Era: Frame The Youth

Sixteen laptops open, one after the other, the rustling of backpacks evident with each Chromebook, Macbook, and various other devices that emerge. Despite the differences in these laptops, the brand, the content, or the keys, one thing remains the same. A baby blue sticker, adorned with three brightly colored words: Frame the Youth. These stickers are everywhere, often found on chairs, desks, and the occasional phone in addition to the aforementioned computers. So who is Frame the Youth? What do these stickers mean, and who represents them?

We can just begin to scratch the surface of this question with Leo Levitt, the lead singer of this elusive, underground band. His love for making music began in 2020 over quarantine, when he started making covers of songs and putting them on online, and furthered when he joined his school’s acapella group, at Aragon. In terms of the band’s beginning, Levitt cites their drummer as the origin of the idea, “Phoenix has been trying to start a band since middle school.” The band really came together with the name, and we’re told the group “started calling it Frame the Youth in August of 2021.”

Levitt and the rest of the band are incredibly passionate about making music, and Leo describes it perfectly, saying, “making music, honestly, it’s about the momentous occasion of realizing something or making a discovery…music is really about connections, it’s really about finding unique ways to deliver a message that you care about. It’s an awesome collaborative process.”

The band is beloved amongst friends of the members and strangers alike, and lots of faces on campus had things to say. Junior Alejandra Chaparro, says, “they make me want to be a better person. They’re inspirational, dude. They’re motivational.” Junior Evan Rose, President of Investors Club, says that their sticker is “good branding and outreach.” Junior Paloma Solari, Aragon student, says “I think that it’s super awesome they have a band and I love Leo Levitt so much.”

Levitt adds, “I don’t think any of us are trying to make a career out of Frame the Youth, but we just enjoy it, and we truly just enjoy making music.”
