As the Girls Volleyball team finishes up preseason, supporters realize that this year, the team will continue last year’s legacy and will keep working hard. With an impressive attendance to summer training and practices throughout the past months, the Varsity team is looking at a good start.
If you attend one of their practices, you would notice that the team not only works hard, but also has a lot of fun with each other, making practice entertaining and productive.
“This team has definitely come together very quickly this season. They are really supportive of each other and I’m grateful to have the opportunity to coach them,” says Coach Andoni, “they are ready to compete, and will be a fun team to watch!” Coach Andoni has been especially proud of his girls, knowing that they have all worked hard and have developed trust and respect towards each other, making a good environment for the team to grow.
Sandra Lim, a Junior who has been on Varsity since she was a Sophomore and also a co-captain, says that she’s excited for this season, especially playing “El Camino [because she has] many friends on that team.” Sandra also says that she enjoys practice because it “can be serious but [they can] also have a lot of fun.”
Even though all the players want to enjoy themselves, they also have a common goal of winning. Sandra says that her goal for the season is to “make it to CCS,” a competition with other teams in different areas in their league.
Sandra is not the only one who wants to win. Kayli Fong’s goal for the season is also to win the league. Kayli is a Senior, and also has been playing on the team since her Sophomore year. Her and Lim, both co-captains, agree that they will have competition this year, but also know that their “team dynamic is really good” and that they all “support each other and consistently communicate.”
To be in a team, one crucial component is to be able to communicate with each other, which Kayli thinks that her team does well with. Because the Girls Volleyball team has this dynamic with one another, their season will be one to anticipate!
