Today’s spirit rally came with a special surprise announcement: the details for this year’s Homecoming dance.
The leadership team built up suspense for the theme reveal through a skit, with a student playing the role of Van Gogh and hinting at the coming announcement. The projector screen lit up with the dance’s details and the theme: Van Gogh’s Starry Night.
The dance will be held at the Hiller Aviation Museum in San Carlos on November 10. While it is on a Thursday evening, students do not have school the following Friday in observance of Veteran’s Day. Students will be allowed to enter the dance between 7 p.m. and 8 p.m., and the dance officially ends at 11 p.m.
“It’s a really unique venue and a lot of the other schools in the district aren’t having their homecoming off campus,” Ella Verducci, senior at SMHS and the school’s Dance Commissioner explains, “I’m just really proud.”
She and Zara Gandhi, the Dance Financial Officer, have every reason to take pride in this event. An immense amount of work has gone into making this dance a success that marks a triumphant return to pre-pandemic dances. For the first time since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic, students are able to bring guests to the event.
Tickets will be available November 1 to November 9. They cost $35 for students with PAL stickers, and $40 for those without them. Students can learn about the clearance pass and guest pass processes on their Instagram or TikTok at @smhsevents.
