Nyanna Maluluan is a beautiful senior here at San Mateo High that shows what true dedication is. She is an incredible soul that radiates with positive energy and continues to support and contribute to her community. As every senior works hard to finish off their last year strong, Nyanna continues to excel while being optimistic for her future.
For Nyanna’s four years here at San Mateo High, she has shined in her position of being a Bearcat cheerleader. Cheer, a sport in which takes a lot of practice and skill to master, has taken a great deal of effort for Nyanna. The hours and effort Nyanna has put into cheerleading has really paid off. For someone like Nyanna, being a spirit commissioner is a huge responsibility for her. There are usually two or three elected spirit commissioners, her being one of them. Her main events were usually Monday Music Days and Lunch Time events. Ms. Cowey, Nyanna’s favorite teacher here at San Mateo High for Algebra I, Renaissance, and Leadership, says, “one of the things that’s her legacy this year is ‘Nyanna Mondays.’ Every Monday this year we have been able to play music during lunch, which was obviously named after Nyanna for contributing the idea.”
Besides her effort and commitment to Leadership, Nyanna also took Renaissance prior to joining Leadership in order to learn how to incorporate her skills for larger school events. As she has a certain love for all genres of music, she has no specific preference, which lets her play the best tunes at lunch. In addition to her responsibility as spirit commissioner, Nyanna is seen as a leader here at San Mateo High for her commitment to cheer, and for her participation in the Filipino Club in order to represent her ethnicity and culture.
To incoming freshmen and students, Nyanna encourages you to be involved in your school community regardless of what your peers have to say! As Nyanna Maluluan goes off into the world, wherever the future takes her, we wish her the best of luck. Her warm positive spirit, and enthusiastic energy will be missed!
