This Charming Man isn’t so Charming

English Singer/Songwriter, author, and frontman of the Smiths, Steven Morrissey has ultimately left an imprint within the music industry with his witty allusive lyrics. But along with all this talent comes a very repulsive mouth. With songs like “Asian Rut”, “The National Front Disco”, and “Bengali in Platforms”, Morrissey hasn’t been shy with his racism. Within a 1985 interview, Morrissey was very vocal about his strong opinions with the music genre, reggae as well as “black modern music. I detest Stevie Wonder. I think Diana Ross is awful. I hate all those records in the Top 40 – Janet Jackson, Whitney Houston. I think they’re vile in the extreme. In essence, this music doesn’t say anything whatsoever,” he said. In addition, he reposted a video revealing his conservative beliefs on UK immigration stating, “rapes and terror attacks which have resulted from mass immigration.”

Along with Morrissey’s overly strong opinions, his Big Mouth sure did strike again when comparing Nazi Germany to Brittain, “I am unable to watch the Olympics due to the blustering jingoism that drenches the event. Although the spirit of 1939 Germany now pervades throughout media-brand Britain, the 2013 grotesque inevitability of Lord and Lady Beckham (with Sir Jamie Horrible close at heel) is, believe me, a fate worse than life. WAKE UP WAKE UP.” In addition, in response to Norway’s Mass Murder in 2011, Morrissey said that the “Meat Is Murder the slayings were no worse than what happens to animals headed for fast food restaurants.” With his strong views on veganism, Morrissey seems to care about animal lives more than humans.

It is no surprise that Morrissey’s fan base dialed down after his repetitive controversial statements. With his racial repulsive slurs, conservative views, and hateful relations, it sure is hoped that his light will soon go out.
